At the end of her stage career, LaVerne founded the local non-profit organization, Simba Talent Development Center, Inc. for which she was executive director. The organization’s focus was placed on dance training for minority, at risk youth in the Las Vegas community for cultural enrichment and to enable fine arts careers in Las Vegas. In addition, LaVerne later was employed by Clark County Family Services for eighteen years and adopted seven children before retiring.
